Bhubaneswar: A retired Sub-Inspector of Police from Nandankanan Police Station in Bhubaneswar, has been convicted in a bribery case and sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Khan was also fined Rs 10,000.
The conviction stems from a case where Khan demanded and accepted a bribe from a vehicle owner to release his seized tractor and trailer. The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Khan under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Following the conviction, Khan has been sent to jail to serve his sentence. The Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop Khan’s pension benefits. Tags: Bribery Case Conviction
