DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Users in Iowa’s Double Up Food Bucks program will see some additional funds in their balance this month.
The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has distributed nearly $100,000 to Iowans in the Double Up Food Bucks program.
Iowa Healthiest State Initiative says the funds will support families through the winter months, which typically see the highest food insecurity.
Double Up Food Bucks matches SNAP recipients when they purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating grocers and markets.
Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, the nonprofit that coordinates the state’s Double Up program, says they have restored $75,000 in benefits that had expired.
In addition, more than 2,600 users received a $9 deposit from Double Up’s emergency fund.
