As Brits prepare for their roast turkey and stuffing, it appears that many are dreading the lunchtime chat.
While many of us love our roast dinner, 37% struggle with making Christmas conversation, new research from Uber Eats has found.
Nine in ten members of Gen Z say they are distracted by tech at the table, and nearly a quarter of them prefer to talk about social media and memes (23%) than Millennial topics like food (25%) and fitness (24%). And four in ten (41%) Boomers prefer to share holiday stories, according to the study.
So to bring back the joy of real conversation, broadcaster and conversation connoisseur Nick Grimshaw has teamed up with Uber Eats and Indian street food restaurant chain Mowgli to produce a set of festive conversation cards created to spark meaningful, surprising and entertaining chat.
The cards are designed to move beyond polite small talk into life's bigger topics with questions like 'Is there a lesson you've learned that's stayed with you' and 'What's a mealtime tradition you'd love to start?'
They provide a festive take on Mowgli's core concept, which is about bringing people together over home-style Indian cooking.
"I love when people open up and share their stories, and I firmly believe that the best conversations happen when people are relaxed, enjoying good food, and have their phones at bay, being present in the moment," Grimshaw said.

Nick added: "I'm thrilled to team up with Uber Eats and Mowgli to inject some life back into dinner table discussions, giving people the tools they need to switch off the screen and turn up the chat."
Mowgli's menu ranges from comforting Mother Butter Chicken to bright and zingy street food like Fenugreek Fries - delicious dishes that are available on the high street or for delivery exclusively from Uber Eats.
Saskia De Jongh at Uber Eats added, "Every day, millions of us enjoy amazing food through Uber Eats. With Mowgli, we wanted to offer something extra this Christmas: delicious dishes and a moment to truly reconnect to our loved ones. After all, great stories, like great food, are meant to be shared."
