HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Students with the Harrison County School District celebrated the holiday season Thursday night with their annual Festival of Trees.

The event was sponsored by the district’s Journey Program and showcased Christmas trees decorated by gifted students from elementary and middle schools across the district.

The theme of each school’s tree represented topics students are learning about in the classroom.

“I just love it. I love the attention that the gifted students are getting because this is so special to them. And I love seeing how happy they are to show off what they’ve been working on,” said Shelly Davis, a gifted teacher at Lizana Elementary.

Thursday night’s event also included scavenger hunt bingo, food trucks, and a vote for the “best tree.”
