The Region 9 girls basketball regular season officially got started this week, aside from one opening game that took place before Thanksgiving due to a scheduling quirk.

Thursday night at Desert Hills, the defensive-minded Thunder rolled to a convincing win over Cedar, just two nights after the Reds had narrowly won their regular season opener at Crimson Cliffs.

Also on Tuesday, Desert Hills had opened their regular season with a 53-36 win at home over Hurricane. Back on Nov. 25, Snow Canyon defeated the Panthers at Pine View.

Including its two home wins to start the regular season this week, Desert Hills is now 7-1 under first-year head coach Ezra Irvin.
