Woody Allen's friendship with Jeffrey Epstein is entering the spotlight.
The Oscar-winning director is one of the famous faces who appears in newly resurfaced photos of the late financier and convicted sex offender, after House Democrats released 19 photos from Epstein's estate as part of their probe of the Justice Department's criminal investigation.
Other high-profile figures featured in the photos include President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and the former Prince Andrew.
One photo appears to show Allen, 90, and Epstein dining together with an unidentified woman, as the pair sits at a table surrounded by drinking glasses. Epstein can be seen grinning during their conversation.
Another photo purportedly shows Epstein visiting Allen on the set of one of his films. The business mogul stands next to Allen, as the filmmaker sits in a director's chair with a pair of headphones around his neck.
"Oversight Dems received 95,000 new photos from Jeffrey Epstein's estate," The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability wrote on social media. "These disturbing images raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world."
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Allen for comment.
Allen opened up about his relationship with Epstein, who was once his neighbor, in a September interview with The Sunday Times. The director said he and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, met Epstein in late 2010 after being introduced by a publicist and invited to a dinner at Epstein's house with the former Prince Andrew.
The encounter came a few months after Epstein completed a year of probation on house arrest following his nearly 13-month prison sentence for his conviction of procuring an underage girl for prostitution.
"He told us he'd been in jail and that he had been … falsely put in jail [through extortion]," Allen told the British outlet. "He told us he was trying to make up for it now by being philanthropic and giving money to cutting-edge scientists and universities. He couldn't have been nicer."
Despite Epstein's legal troubles, Allen and Previn became regular guests at Epstein's star-studded dinner parties.
"We would go, and there was always a table of illustrious people, college professors, scientists, Nobel laureates — accomplished people who were fun to listen [to]," Allen said. "We never ever saw Jeffrey with underage girls. He always had a girlfriend but never an underage girlfriend."
