Cost of living payments worth £200 could be arriving in bank accounts this month.

The payments are funded by the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) which are sent to local authorities.

Birmingham City Council is handing out the payments, known as hardship grants, to help households struggling with financial costs.

The city council said the grants are intended to help households pay for essential costs such as food, water and energy.

Households must come forward and apply for the grants either online or by phone, although the council says online is preferable.
