Less than a week after a tow truck operator was killed in a hit-and-run on Highway 401 just past Ayr, another near-fatal crash occurred on the same stretch of roadway.
Oxford OPP were called to a collision Tuesday, at approximately 6:37 p.m., involving an SUV and a transport truck, closing down the eastbound lanes of the highway, west of Oxford Road 3 in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401, between Cedar Creek Road and Oxford Road 29, were closed for a period for investigation, which is ongoing.
