The scheme, launched in October 2024 as an expansion of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, provides free annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh to all individuals in this age group irrespective of income.

Across the country, more than 93 lakh Ayushman Vay Vandana cards have been issued as of December 05, 2025.
