President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Friday that Russian strikes on Ukraine's southwestern Odesa region damaged a civilian vessel in the port of Chornomorsk.

"Today’s Russian strike, like many similar attacks, had no military purpose and could not have had one," Zelenskyy stated on his Telegram's page.

"This once again shows that Russia not only fails to take seriously the current opportunity for diplomacy, but continues to wage the war with the aim of destroying normal life in Ukraine," he added.

Video footage shared by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine shows firefighters battling massive fire on board a vessel.

According to reports by local media outlets, the damaged ship belongs to a Turkish company.

Odesa region came under a "massive drone attack" last night, according to regional head Oleh Kiper.

He said the drones damaged an energy infrastructure object in the region.

Deputy Energy Minister Roman Andarak said over 90,000 people lost electricity supply in the region as of Friday morning.
