At 12:49 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service released a lake effect snow warning valid from Saturday 7 a.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Southern Erie as well as Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
The weather service adds, "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 8 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake snows."
"Travel will be very difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility," explains the weather service. "Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
