BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — The Brazos County Emergency Management Department said Friday it has been notified of a data breach affecting its CodeRED emergency notification platform, raising concerns that personal information tied to the system may have been compromised.
The breach comes several months after a separate cyber incident in October that cost the Brazos County Emergency Services District 1 nearly $400,000. Hackers infiltrated the district’s computer system for an extended period, monitoring email traffic. On Oct. 10, the attackers intercepted a payment intended for a vendor, diverting the funds after waiting for a large transaction.
County officials said user data was stolen and may be leaked, though it remains unclear whether the breach affected only system administrators or me
