Drivers across Darlington are being warned about a scam text telling them they have an unpaid parking fine.

Darlington Borough Council said fraudsters are "working overtime during the festive period" and it is important people "remain vigilant over potential scams".

Drivers across Darlington have received the following message: "Parking Charge Notice (PCN): The record shows that you have an unpaid parking fine. The payment deadline is December 10, 2025. If you fail to pay by then, you may be subject to additional fines and interest.
