SPRINGFIELD — This week marks the sixth year that Jovann Vergara has been missing.

And his mom, Marie Rivera, still wants answers.

“I have to get loud, you know?” she said. “If I don’t get loud, the police will stop looking for him. It shouldn’t be that way. He’s still my baby.”

On Dec. 9, 2019, Vergara, who was 21, vanished without a trace, Rivera said.

He was at his stepfather’s house on Franklin Street when he called her using a phone number she didn’t recognize to let her know he was on his way home. Vergara told Rivera he had a ride.

“When he didn’t show up, I had an immediate feeling that something was very wrong. Call it mother’s intuition,” she said. “He wouldn’t keep me in anguish like that.”
