“I just shot my wife,” the caller said calmly.

“OK, is she awake?” asked the 911 operator.

“No,” the caller replied. “She’s dead.”

Stephen Kruspe, 62, told responding officers his wife had been struggling with early onset dementia. She didn’t want to live like that, he said. She’d begged him to kill her.

So he did.

Now the Kruspes’ saga will be featured in the Oxygen Network’s true-crime series “ Accident, Suicide or Murder? “

The episode, “Death by Request,” airs Dec. 13 at 8 p.m.
