WYOMING, Mich. — A person is dead after running off the road and crashing into a utility pole on Thursday evening, according to the Michigan State Police (MSP).
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. when a 30-year-old Wyoming man in a Chevrolet Equinox was headed southbound on US-131.
MSP said the man lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road into a snow-covered grassy area between the exit for 28th Street and US-131 before crashing into a utility pole.
According to MSP, a witness described the vehicle as going at a "high rate of speed" when the crash happened.
The driver, who troopers said wasn't wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
