A Jurupa Valley woman was stabbed in a random attack while visiting New York City , police said Friday.

The 38-year-old Southern California woman was stabbed in the back twice with a sharp object at around 3 p.m. Thursday as she was changing her child’s diaper inside a bathroom at Macy’s flagship Herald Square store in Manhattan.

Police told NBC New York that after the victim was stabbed, she turned around and wrestled with the suspect on the ground, causing more cuts to her arm.

Law enforcement sources told NBC Los Angeles exclusively that the victim and her significant other are employees of the LA County Sheriff’s Department.
