SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appeared before lawmakers on Thursday at the House Homeland Security Committee’s annual threats hearing to discuss global threats to the United States.

Throughout the hearing, Noem discussed the “Worldwide Threat to the Homeland” by explaining the role she believed immigration played in the threat against the United States.

During the hearing, House Committee on Homeland Security Member Bennie Thompson of Mississippi called on Noem to resign, claiming Noem dismantled the Department of Homeland Security.

“I call on you to resign,” the Thompson said. “Do a real service to the country.”

Additionally, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez of Illinois also called on Noem to resign.
