TRAVERSE CITY — Dec. 12, 2025 — The Traverse City Police Department released new information Thursday about an officer-involved shooting that occurred Nov. 15, 2025, at East Front Street and Munson Avenue in the city.
According to a Dec. 12 news release update, police said one officer was struck by a round fired by the suspect during the incident, during which a Traverse City parking deck staff member was killed .
The round penetrated the officer’s handcuff case and passed through his handcuffs before being stopped by his ballistic vest.
As part of what the department described as an ongoing commitment to transparency, police are releasing photographs of the ballistic vest involved in the incident.
