A grieving mother broke down in tears in a Salem County courtroom on Wednesday as she described the pain of losing her son in a shooting nearly five years ago.
“Not only did you kill my son, you killed me,” Elizabeth Billip told David U. Bell before he was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the shooting death of Juanmere L. Negron.
Negron, 21, and his lifelong friend, Supreme I. Rahman, 22, both of Salem City, were found shot to death on Jan. 15, 2021.
Police responded to the 200 block of Wesley Street in Salem around 1:30 a.m., where they found Rahman in the driver’s seat of a car and Negron in a nearby alley.
Bell, 48, of Salem was indicted on two counts of murder and weapons charges in the case.
