Mother Nature is smiling on New England ski resorts this season.

Early snowfall meant early openings for several resorts, and some are even breaking records .

“It’s hard to imagine a better start to the season,” said Brian Norton, president and general manager of Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, N.H., in a statement.

Consistent temperatures and more than two feet of natural snow since Loon’s opening day on Nov. 21 have enabled officials to open trails quickly, according to Norton, so the White Mountains resort has opened more than 60% of its trails so far.

“Looking back at our records to the early 2000s, we’ve never had this much terrain open this early in the season,” Norton noted.
