SEATTLE — President Donald Trump has signed Washington state's request for an emergency declaration as floodwaters impact communities throughout the Puget Sound region, Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Friday.
"I just received a phone call from Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Secretary Noem informed me that the president signed our request for an emergency declaration. We have also received written confirmation of that emergency declaration. I expressed my thanks to Secretary Noem on behalf of the people of the State of Washington during this extremely challenging time," Gov. Ferguson said in a statement.
Gov. Ferguson added that he will share more details about the declaration at a 2 p.m. media availability in Tukwila. KING 5 and KING 5+ will carry that press conference live.
