An Alabama prison activist and inmate is on his third week of a hunger strike, and his nonprofit is asking the prison system to step up their monitoring.
Kenneth Traywick is on day 22 of his hunger strike, according to his organization. Traywick, also known as Swift Justice, is a co-founder of a prison advocacy group called Unheard Voices of the Concrete Jungle . He’s currently locked up at Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs.
A spokesperson for the prison system confirmed Traywick is on a “self-imposed hunger strike.”
“He is under observation with regular staff welfare checks and medical assessments by a physician. The details of his medical condition are protected under HIPAA. However, he has been cooperative with these medical assessments, and his condition is stable. He
