India and China have conducted a fresh round of diplomatic discussions in Beijing, with both sides assessing that recent steps to stabilise the troubled relationship have yielded measurable progress, officials said here on Friday.
Sujit Ghosh, Joint Secretary (East Asia), Ministry of External Affairs, held talks in Beijing from December 11 to 12. He met Vice-Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and later held formal discussions with the Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Officials described the engagement as constructive and forward-looking. “Both sides underscored the strategic guidance provided by the leadership in New Delhi and Beijing, and noted that efforts to rebuild the relationship were increasingly centred on people-focused initiatives,”
