The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) would like to remind Edmontonians to protect their belongings as we move into the holiday season by securing vehicles and removing valuables.

To help deter break-ins and thefts from vehicles, police recommend the following safety tips:

Lock your vehicle, even if in a secure garage or underground parkade.

Take valuables, such as wallets, electronics, backpacks and purses with you.

If you must leave items, store them out of sight in the trunk or glove compartment.

Avoid leaving personal documents in vehicles and locking the glove compartment.

Do not leave garage door openers in the vehicle, as it can give a thief access to the contents of the garage.
