A mandatory evacuation was ordered Friday at the University of New Orleans for what officials said was a “potential threat.” As of 1 p.m., the threat had been cleared and the campus reopened.

A campus-wide message was issued just before 11 a.m. that called for all students, faculty and staff to leave the area. UNO Police were going building to building directing people to leave the main campus.

“This is an actual emergency and not a test or a drill!!” the alert said.
