Court records show that a Conroe municipal judge who was arrested earlier this week for allegedly driving while intoxicated has faced similar charges before.

Judge William Waggoner, 34, was arrested Wednesday in Montgomery County on charges of DWI and unlawfully carrying a weapon. According to court documents, Waggoner allegedly had a handgun in his possession when he was arrested for suspicion of DWI.

Waggoner was elected in June 2022 after defeating Meloney Turner in a runoff election prompted by the retirement of Judge Mike Davis. Waggoner's recent arrest came a week after he announced that he would be running for Montgomery County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 in 2026.
