AVON, Ohio – Lorain County’s new soccer team has a name.

During an unveiling ceremony last week, team officials announced that the new team would be dubbed the Lorain County Leviathan. Avon will be home to a new United Soccer League Two club in 2026, a semi-professional league of soccer players looking to possibly make it into the professional ranks.

They will play home games at Crusher Stadium.

As part of the reveal, the team shared the origin story of the mascot and lore character, Jack Nolan, known in the community as “The Lorain County Leviathan.” The backstory ties directly into the identity, culture, and personality of the team, team officials said.
