LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln Police lieutenant has been placed on administrative leave following a sexual misconduct allegation, according to a city official.

On Friday, the Lincoln Police Department said that Lt. Jonathan Sears was placed on paid administrative leave, but did not say when or why.

City of Lincoln public information specialist Jon Taylor confirmed that Sears is on leave following a sexual misconduct allegation.

Sears has been with the police department since 2019 and was promoted to lieutenant in August.

He is the second LPD member this year to face allegations of sexual misconduct.

In July, Jake Dilsaver — the former head of LPD’s Special Victims Unit — resigned from the department following an internal investigation.
