A motorcyclist riding a 2011 Harley-Davidson was killed in St. Tammany Parish in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Slidell on Thursday evening.
Brian Chappell, 61, of Laplace, was traveling west in the right lane on I-10 near LA 433 when he crossed into the center lane and hit the rear of a 2019 Cadillac Escalade, Louisiana State Police said in a press release.
After hitting the Cadillac, Chappell lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a ditch, police said. Chappell, who had been wearing a helmet, suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
The passenger of the Harley-Davidson was transported to a hospital, where his condition is critical, police said.
The driver of the Cadillac, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured, police said.
