With the opening of the new Hamblen County Justice Center imminent, the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office would like to renovate the current Justice Center as a Sheriff’s Office, Juvenile Services Center and possibly the Jail to Work Program for men.

When commissioners met Monday night at the Hamblen County Committees meeting, many of the body were scared off at the price of renovations and decided to table plans for construction until March when the new Justice Center will have been in operation for three months.

County Mayor Chris Cutshaw described the conditions that the HCSO has to work under in its own building.

“Detectives are currently in one small room on top of each other,” Cutshaw said.
