SEATTLE — One person is dead and another is injured after being pulled from the water near the Ballard Locks.
Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the 3200 block of Commodore Way shortly before 2:30 p.m. Friday after reports of a kayaker in distress.
Rescue swimmers were deployed and pulled two people from the water, according to updates posted by the department on X.
One of those people later died from their injuries. The other person is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.
The ages and genders of the victims have not been released.
The Seattle Police Department is investigating, according to fire officials.
