PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The East Bluff Community Center has halted plans for a proposed community wellness center after a months-long review.
The board voted unanimously to table the expansion project, which had been years in the making. Board members cited financial instability, operational needs and a broader organizational transition as reasons for the decision.
“We’re not going anywhere, no matter how we exist,” said Christian McKinney, executive director and CEO of the East Bluff Community Center.
“We’ll be existing with the same community events and if we aren’t in a physical building we’ll fully as ourselves we’ll be partnering with people in the east bluff.”
The center has provided the community with a food pantry, senior and family support, and community events since 2013. T
