A tractor-trailer driver who was accused of causing a fatal accident on the New Jersey Turnpike — then laughing as he drove away — has pleaded guilty in the case.

Joseph M. Nyandwaro , 41, of Pearland, Texas, faces six years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.

Nyandwaro was driving northbound in Woolwich Township on June 22 when investigators said he rammed a tractor-trailer driven by Osman Aden, 40, of Minnesota.

The impact sent Aden’s truck into a concrete barrier and several trees, police said. Aden died of his injuries.

Video from inside the defendant’s truck showed Nyandwaro laughing after he intentionally rammed Aden’s vehicle, police said.
