The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is constructing an 8-lane road that passes under the Bengaluru-Mysore railway line at Challaghatta. The project is being carried out in coordination with the Railways to ensure that train operations continue safely during construction.
BDA Commissioner P Manivannan explained the procedure and timeline involved in completing the work, stating that the construction has been carefully planned to avoid disruption to rail traffic. He said the process begins by cutting a section of the railway track at the point where the road will pass underneath. The width removed corresponds to four lanes of the proposed road. The railway track is then lifted using cranes, and the ballast and soil beneath are cleared.
