DODGEVILLE, Wis. -- The man accused of killing a Dodgeville woman in her own home and taking her body to Nebraska is not competent to stand trial, a judge ruled Friday.
Gavin Thompson, 23, allegedly entered the home of 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht and stabbed her to death, then loaded her body into the back of her own vehicle and drove her to Nebraska.
According to a criminal complaint, Thompson crashed the vehicle into a creek outside Lincoln, Neb. while being chased by police. He was arrested several hours later while walking along the side of a highway.
Thompson's extradition to Nebraska was delayed, in part, because an attorney representing him raised questions of his competency and requested that he be sent to a psychiatric hospital in Lincoln. The request was ultimately denied,
