BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nine-year-old Eddie Golden has been chosen for a big honor — lighting the Tree of Hope at Roswell Park.

“I'm lighting the tree of hope for Roswell,” Eddie said when asked what exciting moment he has coming up. When asked why he thinks he was chosen out of everyone, he simply smiled and said, “Well, because I'm doing great."

Eddie learned about the honor weeks ago and said his reaction was simple: “I was really happy.”

Eddie has been in and out of Roswell Park for months. He was diagnosed in April with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic cancer, with and explained, “I got diagnosed in April. So then my first time at Roswell was like June or July, I think.”
