An ex-Alabama fire chief is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a small-town volunteer fire department.
Former Lucy Volunteer Fire Chief Anthony Westbrook Sr. was arrested Thursday on one charge of first-degree theft of property and 67 counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit credit card, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
Westbrook’s arrest followed a three-month investigation that also led to 24 charges against the fire department’s former secretary.
Sheriff’s officials said Westbrook stole more than $26,000.
He was booked into the Houston County Jail with bonds totaling $164,000.
In September, Tiffany Allyse Money was arrested after authorities said she stole more than $40,000 from the fire department over a four-year period, court records show.
