CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Crews with the Public Works Department in Charleston plan to work around the clock when snow starts to fall this weekend.

“We’re not going home,” Public Works Director Brent Webster said. “I mean, we’ll give breaks, and we’ll trade off drivers, if necessary, but that’s probably the best way for us to handle it.”

He said the city has had plenty of time to prepare by double checking trucks and making sure there’s enough salt for the roadways.

Webster also said salting the roads for the first wave of snow should help reduce the impact.

“This is not supposed to be an ice event beforehand,” he said. “It’s going to be in the mid-30s tomorrow, so it’s encouraging that we have salt on the roads now.”
