The Grants Christmas Light Parade, a tradition for at least two decades, will be held during the day this year due to safety concerns, leading to mixed reactions from the community.

Debbie Jaramillo is aware of the city's changes to the parade's hours, but says these changes will affect the parade's tradition.

Grants law enforcement stated the change is necessary to protect officers before the sun goes down.

The Grants Police Department reported in a news release that there have been three recent incidents where police were targeted, with the most recent involving an officer being shot at during a traffic stop on Tuesday.
