With the last few snows, I have taken the time to view my garden from the camera lens. This has helped me to analyze the foundation planting in my garden. Looking through the lens of my camera, I noticed the beauty in nature that happens without our control. Zooming in on frost or snow and even rain drops can make for interesting shots.

When you look at the garden through the lens of a camera, it allows you to look at smaller areas and how the foundation plants relate to the hardscape around them such as walls or fences. I was looking at an area of my own garden and realized I have three shrubs and a tree in a small area that are all the same size and therefore look like a mass planting. I have added to my journal that next spring I need to prune all three shrubs and change their heights
