JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - State Rep. Ed Clere received a bomb threat at his home Wednesday night, making him the latest of more than a dozen lawmakers targeted in the last month as political tensions escalate over redistricting.
State police called Clere as they were en route to his house after receiving an email claiming a pipe bomb had been placed in front of his residence. Though the threat was determined to be a hoax, Clere said the situation represents a dangerous escalation in partisan politics.
“I’ve been in the legislature since 2008, and I’ve never experienced anything like this, until now,” Clere said. “This is a very dangerous time.”
