The family of murdered toddler Maya Chappell have set their sights on creating a family room in the hospital that cared for the two-year-old in the days before her death.
Maya, described by loved ones as a “bubbly, food-loving little girl who adored her family,” was killed at her Shotton Colliery home by her mother’s partner, Michael Daymond.
Despite the best efforts of medical professionals at Newcastle RVI, little Maya died two days after she was shaken by Daymond.

In December 2023, Daymond was later jailed for life, while Maya’s mother, Dana Carr, was sentenced to nine years in prison for allowing the death of the defenceless youngster.
