The daiva néma and related rituals performed following actor Rishab Shetty’s vow were carried out strictly in accordance with the long-established customs and traditions of the shrine, the administration committee of Barebailu Sri Jarandaya Banta Daivasthana and Sri Varahi Panjurli Daivasthana clarified on Friday.

Addressing a press conference, temple committee honorary president Ravi Prasanna said the enne boolya ritual has been practised at the shrine for several years and was conducted as per tradition. He questioned the propriety of judging or analysing the state of daiva possession without a proper understanding of the shrine’s customs.
