Since president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton was hired four years ago, he has remained focused on the long-term goal of building a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup for several consecutive seasons. Gorton, general manager Kent Hughes and St. Louis are all on the same page with that and they work very well together.
