The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is considering its position on proposed legislation to allow counties to set different property tax rates on different types of residential and commercial properties.

The proposed legislation in County Executive Jessica Fitzwater’s package for the upcoming session of Maryland’s General Assembly would give counties the ability to set different rates on different types of residential and commercial properties, in an effort to finance transportation, education, and other public infrastructure without raising residential property taxes.
