A man who fired upon a work crew doing remodeling work and others at a Phoenix apartment complex in 2022, killing one, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Zachery Shropshire, 36, stepped out of his apartment on March 10, 2022, armed with a high-powered rifle and a Glock handgun and began shooting at the crew who were cleaning up before lunch, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Residents at the apartment building were also in the line of fire, authorities said.

“He struck Alvaro Quezada in the leg, rendering him immobile and unable to escape. Shropshire then fired numerous rounds into Alvaro, killing him,” the release stated.
