SHREVEPORT, La. - Three people escaped from a home after it went up in flames early Saturday morning.
According to the Shreveport Fire Department, just before 2 a.m., they responded to the 800 block of Kirby Place to find the back of a house up in flames, with the roof partially collapsed.
All occupants of the home escaped with no injuries. Two of them had to evacuate through a second story window onto the roof of the front porch. SFD says they were then assisted down using a ladder from a neighbor.
It required 37 firefighters to bring the fire under control. SFD says while the fire remains under investigation Fire Prevention Officer Jeffrey Witte says say, "an electrical malfunction cannot be eliminated by investigators as a contributing factor."
