Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s local body election results have triggered a major political churn, with the United Democratic Front (UDF) registering a historic surge after three decades, while the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) acknowledged an unexpected setback and promised introspection, correction, and renewed political engagement ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Reacting to the outcome, CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan conceded that the LDF had suffered an unforeseen blow in the local polls but maintained that the coalition’s political foundation remained intact.
