EAST GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The city of East Grand Rapids has received a $500,000 federal grant for waterfront improvements at Reeds Lake.
The project will include the restoration of woodlands and wetlands on the west end of Reeds Lake, construction of more trails and observation decks, development of an outdoor classroom area, and expanded parking.
East Grand Rapids is one of 13 Michigan communities to receive funds totaling $11.9 million from the National Parks Service as part of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), according to a Michigan Department of Natural Resources news release.
The federal funds are intended to help improve outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the nation, according to the program’s website.
